Suspension composite insulators are made of polymer composite materials, with a core rod combined with silicone rubber sheds. Their overall weight is far lower than porcelain or glass insulators, significantly reducing tower load and facilitating high-altitude transport and installation. The silicone rubber surface offers excellent hydrophobicity, preventing continuous water film formation in humid or foggy conditions and stabilizing leakage current. With outstanding anti-pollution performance, they are highly adaptable to heavily contaminated lines in chemical plants and coastal salt-fog areas, requiring longer cleaning and maintenance cycles. A single unit covers a wide insulation range, eliminating the need for extensive series connection in high-voltage transmission lines and simplifying line construction. In recent years, they have been widely deployed in new energy station outgoing lines and urban high-voltage ring networks, where their lightweight nature effectively reduces construction and ongoing maintenance workload.
